INDIA BIRDING AND CULTURAL TOUR

Day 1

Arrive in Delhi on an early morning flight from Canada. Transport from airport to hotel, Grand Villa or similar. Late breakfast 0900/1000 hrs. Visit historical sites in Delhi ( e.g. India Gate, Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort in Delhi) with a cultural guide.  Back to hotel for a break/rest. Leave hotel, go for dinner, depart Delhi for Ranthambhore on an evening train.

Day 2

Arrive a Ranthambhore, transfer to Tiger Moon Lodge, settle in have breakfast. Head off into Ranthambhore National Park for some birding. Back to Tiger Moon Lodge for afternoon rest/private time at lodge. Later afternoon trip back into Ranthambore to look for a tiger. Dinner. Night at Tiger Moon Lodge.

Day 3

Early morning before breakfast, (cofee/tea snack) trip into Ranthambore NP to look for a tiger. Back to Tiger Moon for a full breakfast. Birding trip either inside Ranthambore or outside park until lunch at Tiger Moon lodge. break/private time at the lodge. Afternoon trip back into Ranthambore to bird if a Tiger has been seen or look for a tiger and visit the historical fort within the park. Dinner at Tiger Moon. Depart on train for Agra if evening train available or depart following morning.

Day 4

Arrive at Agra, transfer to hotel. Breakfast. Morning trip to visit Taj Mahal (craftman's shop), lunch, visit Red Fort. Transfer to Chambal in late afternoon. Settle in at Chambal, Dinner.

Day 5

Early morning birding on Chambal River (coffee/tea snack) breakfast on boats while on the Chambal River. Back to Chambal for lunch, local birding around the farm. Depart for Delhi by train or coach (which ever works best). Overnight in Delhi, dinner along the way or in Delhi depending upon departure time for Delhi.

Day 6

Early morning departure for Tiger Camp with birding stop Okhla marsh. Arrive Tiger Camp mid afternoon, settle in, bird around the lodge area. Dinner and overnight at Tiger Camp.

Day 7

Depart for Dhikila in morning after an early breakfast, birding along the way to the gates of Jim Corbett National Park. Brief stop at gates of Jim Corbett national park, bird along way into Dhikila stopping along way to view river. Arrive at Dhikila, settle in, noon meal at camp. Rest or bird around camp area. Late afternoon birding at Dhikila coming back for dinner and over night at camp. (Concentrate on birding in Dhikla, Tigers seem difficult to find). A boat trip on the reservoir maybe worthy of consideration, if available.

Day 8

Early morning elephant ride, booked the day before. Breakfast after elephant ride, morning birding at Dhikiala, noon meal. prepare to depart birding along the way out of Jim Corbett National Park arriving back at Tiger Camp settle in and dinner.

Day 9

Early morning birding at Tiger Camp, breakfast and depart for Pangot birding along the way. Arrival at Pangot in time for lunch, settle in, rest/bird around Jungle Lore Lodge. Late afternoon birding around Pangot, dinner and overnight at Pangot Jungle Lore.

Day 10

Early morning, coffee/tea snacks, drive up into the mountains to look for pheasants and high elevations species. Back to Pangot for good breakfast, back out into mountain area to look for local birds, back to lodge for lunch, after lunch break birding around lodge. Late afternoon birding below lodge. Dinner at lodge and overnight.

Day 11

Early morning up the mountain for high level species missed on first day, back for Breakfast and depart for a day of birding along the way and at Sattal. Lunch along the way at Sattal. Birding along the lakes. Dinner and over night at Sattal at a better hotel like Pine Crest or Country Inn.

Day 12

Mourning birding along the creek at Sattal, into the farming area.  Lunch and back into Sattal to enjoy some of the culture. Visit the white Mosc and local information. Overnight train trip to Delhi.

Day 13

Arrive at Delhi in early morning, transfer to Grand Villa or similar hotel for rest of India trip. Bird at Sultanpur Park after a rest and breakfast at hotel. Rest of day spent in Delhi visit shopping mall and Indian open market where the local people come to shop. Final dinner out in Delhi.

Day 14

Transfer to airport for return trip to Canada
